Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular Programs

The Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular programs in the Primary School at Heights College are many and varied, and provide opportunities to undertake new challenges and trial new activities ranging across sport, music, academic, art and drama. The opportunities provided and the enjoyment derived from involvement in these programs enhances the educational aspects of Heights College.

Music
Instrumental Music, Band and Brass Ensembles including individual instrumental tuition with many performance opportunities.

Sport
Heights College competes in the State Primary Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming carnivals, which are interschool sporting competitions that include swimming, athletics, track and field and long distance events against primary schools in this region. From these events students are selected to compete in the Capricornia teams in regional and state events.

All students in Years 4 to 6 have the opportunity to participate in Inter-school competitions of Hockey and Netball which are run in the winter season in Terms 2 and 3.

Extra-curricular Activities
World Vision, Samaritans Purse, Eisteddfods, Speech Choir, College Musical,  Buddy groups

 

College Camping Program
From Year 6 – Year 12 Heights College boasts an annual camping program with set goals and objectives that aim to develop the whole child – body, mind and spirit. Attendance is mandatory, as t
he program fits in with each year level’s curriculum and provides an opportunity for the teacher to develop aspects of the class program in an alternative environment to the classroom. Rapport is also developed between staff and students on these camps.
