The Senior School curriculum allows students to follow academic pathways leading to both the award of an OP, and vocational pathways which lead to School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships, work experience or employment. All subjects offered in Years 11 and 12 can contribute to the achievement of a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
Whilst many students choose subjects offered by the College, some select to do TAFE courses and Start University Now (SUN) subjects offered by CQUniversity. Within walking distance, the facilities at CQU are regularly accessed, with Extended Learning Programs being completed by our students.
The curriculum is designed to allow a progression from Year 10 studies to related subjects in Years 11 and 12. Students in Year 10 experience the requirements, processes and protocols of Year 11 and 12 students, with Year 10 Work Programs, assessment instrument and criteria being based on QSA Syllabus documents for Year 11 and 12.
Year 10 students choose 3 electives, with Core Subjects being mandated to develop the skills required for vocational and academic pathways.
All students prepare for the Queensland Core Skills Test (QCS Test) in Year 12. Students with particular learning needs, ESL, and students on EAP's are supported in their educational program.
Staged implementation of the new Australian National Curriculum is underway, in line with Government schedules.
A detailed description of subjects offered in Years 10, 11 and 12 is given in the Subject Selection Information Booklet for the relevant year, available from the College office or from the links below.
