On Thursday the 2nd of February, Heights College House Captains participated in the annual
GRIP Student Leadership Conference. Students participated in a range of leadership development
activities with school leaders from around the region. These students included Bella Pearce, Cody
Smith, Ruby Anderson, Joshua Lawton, Braedon Warcon and Sophie Parker.
Some of the focus sessions included Steps to Higher Standards, Tips for House Captains, Leading with
Integrity, Finding Opportunities for your team and how to work effectively as a team.
Heights’ students as usual presented actively and well. They participated in each and every activity
enthusiastically as well as getting to know other students from other schools and build their
networks and leadership skills.
There were some fun breakout games and challenges throughout the day including finding the
oldest thing in the room. A rather cheeky Braedon Warcon came and grabbed Mrs Pass and everyone
was gobsmacked that Heights didn’t win with that inspired move. It turns out there were earrings
which were a hundred and twenty years old that somebody was wearing so Heights were pipped at
The team came back to school brimming with ideas to impart to their leadership. As a school we look
forward to bringing what they learnt to the college to strengthen their own leadership.
